- As an exclusive pumper, I thought it would be great to share my experience thus far. I’ve been using the Willow for about 4 months now, and exclusively pumping for 3 of those months. Your first question might be “Why aren’t you breastfeeding?” Well, I returned to work three weeks after my C section and Layla had figured out how much quicker she could get milk with a bottle rather than breastfeeding so she began to not stay latched. Even though pumping is a lot of work, I love to give her every ounce I can.
- I was so excited when I discovered that my insurance would pay for part of my Willow. A pump that’s completely cordless and quiet that fits in your bra? Who wouldn’t be! I don’t own a traditional pump, but I can’t imagine how hard it would be to take a break from work every 2-3 hours or be tied down in general. As a mom, there is ALWAYS something to do.
- The pump includes:
- 2- Willow Pumps
- 2- 24mm Flanges
- 2- Flextubes™
- 24- 4 oz. Spill-Proof Breast Milk Bags
- 1- Charger
- 2- cleaning brushes
- 2- carrying bags
- My Thoughts
- At first, I wasn’t a fan. Pumping hurt, and I was having trouble getting out of expression mode. It turns out it was user error. After using a proper method to measure my nipples, I ordered the Maymom Flange Inserts, a tight nursing bra, used some coconut oil and all of my issues were put to rest. There is a hack for the bags so that you can use one set for the whole day instead of new ones every time you pump. The bags have been more accurate than the milk containers with the app for keeping track of ounces pumped. I pump 5 times a day for about 25 minutes.
- Cons
- The biggest con is the price of the bags and having to order them online. I have used both bags and milk containers. While I don’t have any issues with the bags, the containers are uncomfortable to pump in and I don’t get as much milk. I only have to charge the pumps at night, however, it comes with one charger so you need to pay attention to when one is done, so you can charge the next. I’ve had to have both of my pumps replaced under warranty because the milk containers were causing them to crack.
- App
- I like the app to see how long I’ve been pumping, the last time I pumped and keeping track of how many ounces I have produced that day.
- Would I buy it again?
- Overall, I love my Willow. I can pump while working, driving, napping, making dinner, you name it! I would recommend it to anyone, especially if you are an exclusive pumper. If you have any questions, leave me a comment below!
