I know this sounds so cliché, but I can’t believe how quickly the last six months have flown by. It feels like one minute Layla was sleeping all day and was so still, then the next she was standing on me and trying to scoot under the couch! I do miss the sweet blurry-eyed newborn days, but I have to admit that seeing Layla learn something new every day is so exciting!

SLEEP
If you are a mom, expecting mom, or purchasing a gift for one- I highly recommend the Taking Cara Babies sleep courses. I started Layla with the newborn course when she was 4 weeks old, within a few weeks she was sleeping 11 hours at night. I’ve taken all of Cara’s courses, they are so worth it. Layla has slept in her room since she was 8 weeks old. I’ve written her routine below. Not every day is the same and is about to change again now that she is 6 months old!
Sleeping Routine:
- 7:30am-Wakeup
- 9:00am-10:30am-Nap
- 12:00pm-1:30pm-Nap
- 3:30pm-4:00pm-Nap
- 5:30pm-6:00pm-Nap
- 8:00pm-Bedtime
FEEDING
Layla has been solely on formula for the last month due to me having to take medication for different autoimmune diseases. It took us a few different formulas, but we found what works best for us! Enfamil Gentlease. Her eating schedule is as follows
Eating Routine:
- 7:30am-6oz
- 10:30am-6oz
- 1:30pm-6oz
- 4:30pm-6oz
- 6:30pm-6oz
I also recently started training her to drink out of a straw cup and open cup. We started with Juice Bear straw cups due to them being easier to learn, and she now uses the Zoli Cup. Her open cup is the EZPZ Tiny Cup.
As far as solids, Layla started showing signs of readiness when she was 14 weeks old! We started with puree’s which she loved, but as she got older she started to gag which would make her throw up her entire bottle. About a month ago I took the feeding littles Baby Led Weaning Course and never looked back! This course was so informative, I felt safe giving Layla what I was eating (as long as it isn’t a choking hazard). She has done SO well! Their instagram also has great meal ideas. She has loved everything she has tried besides bananas. She is eating two solid meals a day and I plan to start incorporating three tomorrow.

Q&A
What is her current clothing size?
She is in 9-12. If she wasn’t wearing cloth diapers she would definitely wear a size smaller in bottoms!
What are her favorite foods?
She loves tacos, carrots, pickles… too many to name haha!
Favorite milestone?
She reached for me yesterday for the first time!
What is the milestone you can’t wait for?
I can’t wait for her to say “Mama”
What are you least looking forward to about upcoming milestones?
Taking off her own diaper haha!
What are some anxieties about motherhood that turned out to be false?
I always wanted to have a child but was so scared that I wouldn’t know what to do. It truly does come naturally, and if you don’t know something, someone will!
What is one thing you wish you had done differently in the first 6 months?
I wish I took a longer maternity leave- I took off 3 weeks. I love spending all the time with her that I can!
What is the biggest thing you miss from the newborn stage now that she is 6 months?
I miss all the sleepy cuddles! now she wants to stand on me ALL THE TIME! but I love watching her grow- bittersweet.
