Clothing
- Footed Pajamas with Mittens– These are such amazing quality.
- Socks– Baby socks slip off so easily, these actually stay on!
- Mittens– These are the only mittens that weren’t too big for Layla’s wrists.
- Burp cloths
- Velcro Swaddle– So much easier than traditional swaddling.
Diapering
Feeding
- Breast pump– I have only used a portable pump, not a traditional pump.
- Silicone Pump– This has a suction cup on the bottom so it can’t be easily spilled when placed on a surface.
- Breast milk freezer bags– these are the best value I have found and have never leaked for me.
- Nursing pillow– Way more comfortable than the Boppy in my opinion because of its shape.
- Nursing bras– Great value, also work well with portable pumps.
- Nipple cream
- Formula Dispenser– If you’re doing formula, this makes late nights and early mornings a breeze!
- Baby bottles and nipples– These are SO easy to clean and I never had a problem with nipple confusion. They feel just like a boob!
- Bottle brushes– The bottom detaches and has a separate brush for the bottle nipples.
- Bottle drying rack
- Bottle Soap– Breastmilk always left an oily-like residue until I found this soap!
- High chair
- Cape Bib– Great for messy eaters!
- Silicone Bib– Good for when they are older and less messy
- Silicone Plate
- Silicone Bowl
- Utensils
- Straw cup
- Open Cup
Medical must-haves
- Nail Trimmer– This has a little window cut out so you can see what you’re doing.
- Nose, Nail and Ear Picker
- Thermometer
- Medicine Paci-amazing.
- Saline nasal drops– Newborns can’t breath through their mouth so it’s important to keep their nasal passages clear.
- Electronic Nose Sucker– I prefer this to the nose frida because if baby is sick they can get you sick if you’re manually sucking.
- Tylenol– Children’s is the same strength and WAY cheaper. This one is also clean and dye-free!
- Gripe Water– Great for hiccups, upset tummies, fussiness, etc.
- Gas Drops– I used this when the gripe water didn’t work- if she had gas pain this worked in seconds!
- Windi– I only had to use this twice in Layla’s first year, I was so grateful to have them on hand.
- Humidifier– since newborns can only breath through their nose, our doctor suggested using this as soon as we got home!
Nursery furniture and gear
- Crib
- Bassinet
- Dresser/Changing table
- Changing Basket
- White + Night Light
- Baby monitor
- Rug
- Lounger… I used the DockATot with Layla and loved it! I’m trying the Snuggle Me this time for the newborn stage (way easier to clean).
Playtime
- Swing & bouncer– Layla loved this. I’m trying out this bouncer this time because its way more compact!
- Activity mat
- Teething toy
- Play Gym
- Toy Arch– This can clip on to a stroller, carseat, bouncer, etc.
Travel items
- Infant car seat or Doona if you travel a lot.
- Convertible Carseat-Great for when baby grows out of infant seat. This one is so well made!
- Car Camera
- Stroller– This stroller converts into a double stroller.
- Carseat Cover (also works as a nursing cover, grocery cart cover and high chair cover)
- Baby carrier– These are amazing and will fit newborn to toddler!
- Travel Sound Machine– this is great for traveling, car rides, grocery trips, etc.
- Diaper bag backpack or purse insert (Both include a changing pad)
